Spanish

Spanish, the official language of 21 countries and of numerous international organisations, is known for being very nearly phonetically perfect. Learning Spanish enables girls to keep pace with the growing Hispanic influence on culture.

At STAHS we aim to prepare girls to appreciate some of the great Hispanic modern and classic cultural contributions through learning the language. From the royal portraits of Goya to the surreal depictions of Picasso, Spanish influence on the fine arts has been substantial. Reading Latin American or Spanish newspapers and exposure to writers such as Miguel Cervantes and Gabriel Garcia Marquez opens a window into the Hispanic mind.
