Toddler Group – Learning in the Woods - St Albans High School for Girls

Toddler Group

Learning in the Woods

We use our extensive school grounds to provide a rich outdoor learning environment for our pupils. Since 2016, we have also run our Toddler Group as an introduction to the experience of learning in the woods and for local families to enjoy our wonderful site in Wheathampstead.

STAHS Learning in the Woods Toddler Group is an hour of outdoor fun and adventure for both boys and girls, with their accompanying adults. Each week we have a different theme with a story and selection of activities based on the season and what is happening in our wonderful woods and the world around us. The activities are suitable for toddlers from 18+ months to pre-schoolers aged four, to explore and develop their curiosity and understanding of nature.

The sessions are led by a STAHS team member and designed so that each adult closely interacts with their child to gain the best experience from the sessions. It is up to you and your child if you choose to join in the planned activities or enjoy exploring our woods and making your own discoveries. Children remain the responsibility of their accompanying adults at all times whilst they are in the school grounds.

STAHS Learning in the Woods Toddler Group is held weekly on Monday mornings from 10.30 to 11.30 and on Wednesday mornings from 09.30 to 10.30, during the STAHS Prep School term time.

The cost is £3 per child per session attended and includes all the craft materials used and a small food snack, which we all enjoy cooking on the campfire whenever possible.

The Toddler Group is very popular and currently there is a waiting list for places of approximately 18 months. Please contact the email below with your enquiry for more details and to be placed on the waiting list.
