Bud-ding business idea wins award at the regional final

Congratulations to two  Year 12 Young Enterprise teams who represented STAHS at the North and East Hertfordshire Area Final last week.

Young Enterprise is a national charity which empowers young people to set up and run a student company under the guidance of a volunteer business mentor. Students make all the decisions about their business, from deciding on the company name and managing the company finances, to selling to the public, providing them with practical business experience and key skills.

STAHS was represented by Team BloomPots, who have created ‘grow-your-own’ garden kits and Team Creo, who sell reusable bamboo cups. Both faced stiff competition against 11 other schools when presenting their company projects and answering questions from a panel of judges during the evening.

STAHS Head of Careers, Mrs Parton was delighted by the student progress, “Our teams have grown as they learnt to overcome obstacles and tackle new and unfamiliar challenges, developing skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and time management – all with the dedicated support and expertise provided by their amazing mentors from the business world.”

Congratulations to Team BloomPots who ended the night winning the Creativity Award.  ‘Managing BloomPots has been an incredible experience and we have all learnt so many skills that we can take with us” said Co-Managing Directors Kate and Louisa. ‘We are so grateful to have had such a fantastic team to work with.’
