Put simply, Biology is the scientific study of life; as such it encompasses the investigation of living organisms and life processes from the molecular, through cells and individual organisms to populations and whole communities of animals and plants.
Our girls learn to develop a practical approach to problem-solving using a wide range of apparatus and techniques. Delivery is not constrained by the syllabus, allowing students to explore and gain a real understanding of the subject, including innovative future technologies.
By studying Biology at STAHS students learn to make informed decisions about their own health and about topical biological issues such as genetically modified organisms, the use of antibiotics, the potential of stem cells, the problems of emerging diseases and the eradication of invasive species.
