Mrs Rachel Parker

Deputy Head Pastoral

Mrs Rachel Parker completed her degree in Geography at Durham University before embarking on two years of rowing coaching, the second of which was in Bryanston School in Dorset. It was there that Rachel’s love of education was fostered, and the subsequent year saw her complete her PGCE in Secondary School Geography Teaching at the University of Bristol. Rachel’s first teaching job was at St Paul’s Girls’ School in central London where, at the end of her tenure, she was Head of Y9 and teacher i/c rowing. Next stop was boarding school and Wycombe Abbey beckoned; where initially Rachel co-ran the Upper Sixth boarding house and more latterly was a Housemistress, responsible for a Senior House of 50 girls aged between Y8-Y12. During her time at Wycombe Abbey, Rachel completed an MA (part-time) in Geography Education at University College London, and a Professional Development Certificate in Boarding Management with the Boarding Schools’ Association. Rachel comes to the role of Deputy Head Pastoral at St Albans High School for Girls with a wealth of experience in looking after teenage girls; ensuring the safety and well-being of the students at this School is her utmost priority.

Rachel enjoys music, being a bassoonist and pianist since School, and a variety of sports including rowing, swimming and cycling. Rachel lives locally with her husband, Andrew, and their miniature dachshund who is called Rolo. They enjoy spending weekends with friends and family, visiting National Trusts for walks and eating at all the fabulous St Albans restaurants.
