Mrs Amber Waite
After completing degrees in Mathematics, Chemistry and Geology, Amber embarked on a career developing instruments and analytical techniques to study the biogeochemistry of some of the most extreme environments on Earth, such as the areas around deep sea volcanoes. Following a decade of research, she decided to explore opportunities in education and started teaching science in coastal Delaware, USA. She moved to the UK in 2008 with her husband (also a chemical oceanographer-turned-teacher) and has taught Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at a number of top-ranked independent schools in the southeast of England. Amber took up the post of Head at STAHS in September 2019 and she is looking forward to leading this wonderful school into the 2020s. Outside of school, Amber has a nine-year-old son and enjoys spending time with her family and friends – particularly if it involves outdoor activities.
