As part of our Maestros Music Masterclass and Recital Series, we were delighted to be joined last Friday by bassoonist Sarah Burnett. Sarah, one of the most lyrical and sought-after woodwind artists of her generation, is current Principal Bassoon of both Britten Sinfonia and the London Mozart Players.
Sarah regularly plays for session orchestras and can be heard on many a film score, ranging from Harry Potter to Blue Planet, Les Misérables to Wonka. In addition, she is a dedicated and passionate chamber musician, being a member of the celebrated Haffner Wind Ensemble, featuring the principal winds of Britten Sinfonia, and can also be heard guesting with Ensemble 360 and London Winds.
Sarah is a keen and experienced teacher; she is Professor at the Royal College of Music, and also coaches the bassoons of the National Youth Orchestra, is a Consultant at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and is in demand for adjudicating and masterclasses, both at home and around the world.
At the masterclass fellow bassoonists were able to take on some top tips whilst playing alongside Sarah, and afterwards guests were treated to a wonderful recital.
