GCSE students achieve record-breaking results at the top grade

We are celebrating record-breaking GCSE results, with the highest proportion of Grades 8-9 in the school’s history.

All students delivered exceptional outcomes, with 46% of all grades awarded at grade 9 (the highest possible grade) and 74% at grades 8-9, both new school records. An impressive 90% of all grades were awarded 7-9, underlining the outstanding academic achievement of this year’s students.

Highlights from the Class of 2026

  • 11 students achieved straight Grade 9s 
  • 40 students gained seven or more Grade 9s 
  • 30% of students achieved exclusively grades 8 and 9 

Ann Massey, Head of STAHS, said:

‘We are immensely proud of this exceptional year group. These results reflect their outstanding academic achievement, and also the determination, resilience and enthusiasm with which our students approach every opportunity.

To achieve our highest-ever proportion of Grade 8-9s is a remarkable accomplishment. Behind every result lies years of hard work from our students, supported by dedicated teachers and families who have encouraged them every step of the way.

Today’s results are an important milestone but at STAHS, our philosophy is to Teach to 25; preparing not just for exams, but for the decade ahead. We celebrate these results as the beginning of many exciting futures and look forward to seeing what the girls achieve in Sixth Form and beyond.’

These exceptional results have been achieved alongside a vibrant co-curricular experience. Throughout their GCSE years, students have immersed themselves in sport, music, drama, leadership opportunities and a wide range of enrichment activities, demonstrating that academic success and balanced education go hand in hand at STAHS.
