Welcome from the Head
The adventurous scholarship which fired our St Albans founders in 1889 finds expression in all that the school offers today.
We enjoy the affection and community spirit of a local school, but this city school beats with the pulse of the capital on its doorstep and the world beyond, through international school partnerships, exchanges, digital and service learning and a diverse, inclusive pupil body from every corner of the world. Girls step out of our doors confident and ready to engage. They are ambitious and witty, diligent and principled.
This is an intellectually exciting place, but unstuffy, grounded and great fun. We balance individuality with collaboration, help every girl to discover what she loves and establish the direction that will guide her future. So we enjoy and encourage educational risk-taking: from Forest School bonfires in the Prep, to hard-hitting discussion in whole school debates. Important though they are, our outstanding results are kept in their place; they are welcome by-products of the real business of education: inspiring a love of learning.
Our excellent pastoral care translates into happy, thoughtful, unaffected girls who look out for each other and love their school, who are proud of their learning and of themselves. I warmly invite you to visit the school and meet some of them.
From my study windows I can see our girls pouring out of the doors and spinning down the street. They are laughing and talking, and striding out to ‘Live adventurously and let their lives speak.’
