STAHS students celebrate excellent GCSEs

Date Posted: Thursday 22 August 2024

Our Year 11 students are celebrating excellent GCSE results today.

Acting Head of STAHS Senior, Drew Thomson-Jones said: ‘We are hugely proud of our Year 11 students and their many successes.  Our students have worked hard to achieve their very best outcomes, and we are delighted to be celebrating with them today.’

‘STAHS students have once again far surpassed the national results. 40% of STAHS GCSEs were awarded grade 9, 67% grade 8 or 9 and 86% grade 7-9 (compared to 21.8% grade 7-9 across the whole of England, Wales and Northern Ireland).’

Highlights for STAHS students today include:

  • 25 students (19%) achieved eight or more grade 9s
  • Over a quarter (27%) of all students achieved all grades 8 and 9, and over half (54%) achieved all grades 7, 8 and 9 (previously A-A*).

Behind the statistics are many remarkable personal stories. Some notable individuals include:

  • Lucy, our top performing student, with 12 grade 9s
  • 10 pupils who achieved 10 or more grade 9s:  Sophia, Zara, Grace, Milly, Aneesa, Aanya, Mary, Alice, Divya and Maya.
  • Sophia who received special recognition from the exam board OCR for one of the top marks in Computer Science in the country.
