Welcome to St Albans High School for Girls

I hope that you will enjoy looking at our website and that it will make you eager to find out more about our excellent school.
We are an independent Church of England day school for girls between the ages of four and eighteen, the younger girls enjoying the rural surroundings of our Primary School in the delightful village of Wheathampstead, just 3 miles from St Albans, with those from Year 7 upwards based at the Senior School in the heart of this historic city.
Founded in 1889, the School has close links with the Diocese of St Albans through the Bishop, who is Visitor to the School, and the Dean, who is honorary vice-Chair of the Governing Body. The teachings of the Christian church inform our work here, but we are by no means exclusively Anglican and we welcome girls of all or no faiths into our community.
As a pupil at our school, your daughter will be encouraged in the pursuit of individual excellence. She will receive the stimulus and support to develop her academic abilities to the full, to explore and participate in a wide range of activities and to recognise and celebrate her talents and achievements.
We look forward to hearing from you and can assure you that, whether you choose to visit us on one of our Open Days or would prefer to come and visit us in the course of a working day, you will be most welcome.
