The Classics department at STAHS offers a wide range of perspectives of the ancient world, from close study of the classical languages, Latin and Greek, to in-depth analysis of ancient texts in translation. Alongside their studies of themes in literature and the world in which it was produced, our girls learn the invaluable skills of problem-solving and attention to detail.
The academic expertise of the Classics Department aims to encourage girls to experience the relevance of the languages and culture of classical society to the modern world. Our girls relish the opportunity for lively discussion of a perfect line of poetry or a visually pleasing building, or the eternal themes of the pity of war and the plight of refugees.
