Registration

Our breakfast club begins at 7.15 for those parents who wish to drop off their children early and we provide them with a nourishing breakfast as well as activities and games to relax before the start of the day. Most of the girls arrive between 8 and 8.30am either by car, on foot or by school coach. The day begins with a short form time and registration where girls can talk to teachers and their friends and prepare for the day.

Assembly

We have a variety of assemblies through the week led by the Head, the Head of the Senior School, the Chaplain or other senior or House staff. Children also lead some assemblies either in their forms or as groups such as school committee. Each week the girls also have a pastoral time in their classes, discussing issues or taking part in co-operative and shared activities.

Lesson 1

The classrooms, library, ICT suite and science laboratory are modern, bright and very well resourced. We have specialist teachers for science, music, I.T. French and P.E.

Break

Girls may bring in fruit or vegetables as a break time snack.
Making use of the playground, the adventure playground, the field or the woods, the girls have chance to play and relax and our grounds provide a perfect setting for sport and imaginative play.

The girls quickly become avid and accomplished readers and are able to read a range of books from our extensive library. They enjoy writing stories, letters, information articles and poetry.

The girls make fast progress in mathematics, building on core skills in the early years and becoming confident and capable problem solvers. They enjoy investigating difficult problems as well as entering local and national competitions.

All girls are provided with a hot meal every day, which includes a meat, fish and vegetarian option as well as a salad bar. Meals are nutritious and freshly cooked and care is taken to select menus that are appropriate for 4 – 11 year olds.

The girls enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum. They have a chance to work creatively in art; drawing, painting, modelling and working with clay. We have a purpose built art room and a new Performing Arts Centre, along with a multi-purpose hall for gymnastics.

Lesson 5

In Design Technology, girls use their creativity and imagination to design and make products using a range of practical skills. They also begin to understand and apply the principles of nutrition and start to learn how to cook.

Work is differentiated within lessons in every subject to provide each individual girl with appropriate challenges and small class sizes ensure all pupils have a high level of teacher input and support.
