STAHS pays tribute to Professor Stephen Hawking

Posted on 14 March 2018

Professor Stephen Hawking attended St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS) with his sisters between 1950 and 1953. In those days, girls and boys studied together until the age of 10, after which they were separated and he joined the boys’ school.

Jenny Brown, Head of St Albans High School for Girls commented: “We are extremely saddened to have lost one of STAHS’ finest stars. He was a true inspiration and his legacy continues to inspire our girls to unlock the universe of possibilities in our dedicated science labs, named in his honour.”

The Hawking Building at St Albans High School was opened in 2015 and features state of the art science facilities enjoyed by all our students.
