Careers guidance

We have a structured programme of careers guidance for girls throughout their time in school. They have regular consultations to help them with their choice of subjects and important decisions about future courses and careers. Parents are consulted at all stages. The Careers room is well stocked with up to date information and appropriate careers software and we have contact with the County Careers Service. We also allow Year 10 girls to participate in the 'Take Our Daughters to Work' day. Work Experience is carried out in Year 12.

“Every girl leaves school having had ample opportunity to become a well-rounded individual, looking forward to the future with confidence, humour and compassion.”

Careers advice

The majority of our girls go on to University, but in order to assist them in making decisions about their futures, Careers Days are held in Years 9 and 11. A team of experienced staff helps girls make informed decisions about subject choices. Further advice is available in follow-up sessions with House Mistresses, the Assistant Head of Sixth Form and PHSE lessons. Girls in Year 11 are offered the opportunity to attend a University Open Day in order to gain an initial impression of Higher Education.

An Information Evening is held in preparation for entry to the Sixth Form. The Old Girls' Association organise themed careers evenings, at which former pupils offer advice and information to girls in Year 9 and upwards.
