There is a wide range of organised musical groups on offer, which are open to all players whether they learn in school or elsewhere.
There are many opportunities to perform in the Senior School's orchestras and choirs. Visit the Senior School Music webpage for more details.
Instrumental Ensembles
All these groups perform in the December and June concerts at Wheathampstead House.
Junior Orchestra |
Junior Orchestra meets at lunchtime during the week. Membership is by invitation and girls need to be confident sight readers. This orchestra joins forces with the Intermediate Orchestra in the Summer Orchestral Concert in May. |
Junior Guitar Ensemble |
Rehearsals take place before school. |
New String Band |

Red Recorders |

Choirs
These choirs perform in the December and June concerts at Wheathampstead House.
Junior Chamber Choir |
Members of the Chamber Choir are auditioned from members of Junior Choir and join girls from Years 7 and 8 rehearsing weekdays after school at the Senior School. The choir takes part in large-scale events such as services at the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban and performs in concerts alongside the Senior Choirs and Ensembles.
The Junior Chamber Choir has seen success in Music for Youth and has performed in the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, a Foyer Concert in the Royal Festival Hall and in St John's, Smith Square, on three occasions; it has undertaken a concert tour to North Germany and recorded a CD. |
