Religious Studies

Religious Studies is taught as an academic subject throughout the school. All girls are supported to become more confident in their ability to think and to rationalise their own beliefs and the beliefs of others. It is the aim of the R.S. Department that our students are helped to become independent thinkers, enabling them to make informed decisions about the world, so that they leave school genuinely equipped to tackle the dilemmas of the 21st Century.

Furthermore, we highly regard the cultural heritage of St Albans Abbey and a visit to this unique place also forms part of our extra-curricular provision. A theatre company visits the School for a day in June, to provide a workshop and to perform their highly acclaimed play 'Ashes to Ashes', on the psychological and philosophical impact of the Holocaust.

Our A level students are given every opportunity to enter local and national essay competitions such as UCL's Heythrop College. Indeed, the school has won the competition on more than one occasion.

Our Religious Studies results at both A level and GCSE are excellent, with many girls embarking upon degree courses in Philosophy, PPE and Law at their first choice university.
