Strong Musical Tradition

The musical tradition within the Senior School is strong, both in and out of the classroom. There is the opportunity for private tuition in a very wide selection of instruments, including solo singing, and nearly half the girls learn an instrument at school. Many girls also take lessons outside school. Some of the many orchestras, choirs and bands perform regularly in the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, St John's Smith Square, Birmingham Symphony Hall, at the South Bank and in the Barbican Hall. A very full programme of concerts and recitals is presented each term. Foreign and UK tours are regularly undertaken and members of the High School have playing commitments in the County Youth Orchestras and the National Youth Orchestra and at the junior departments of the various London Conservatoires.
