Drama

Enthusiasm for Drama abounds: as well as being a popular option for public examination at GCSE and A level, extra-curricular activities provide opportunities for performance, direction, design and stage management. As well as the main School Hall for major productions, there is a well equipped Drama Studio which provides a useful working space and venue for small-scale performances.

Girls can participate in House Drama, clubs and the annual school play, ranging from cabaret shows to Greek Drama, from Shakespeare to post modernist theatre. Half-term workshops are arranged to explore theatre arts such as puppetry, masks, dance and musical theatre.

Theatre trips, both locally and in the West End, are a regular occurrence, and residential trips incorporating performance are a feature of school life - the boards have been trodden in USA, Austria, Greece, Spain and South Africa, as well as closer to home in Stratford-upon-Avon. Students are encouraged to join local theatre groups and there is a high rate of acceptance into the National Youth Theatre.

Girls throughout the school have the opportunity to take Speech and Drama lessons in small groups in preparation for a variety of LAMDA examinations. Girls in Years 7, 8 and 9 attend lessons on a rota basis in the course of the school day, whilst classes for older girls take place in their free time.
