Art

As girls progress through the school they are provided with a supportive environment whereby individual creativity is nurtured. Girls are encouraged in purposeful and well-organised activities that spring from experiences which are relevant to them. The girls are gradually exposed to many materials and techniques in order to develop a vocabulary of skills and expertise. Specialist teachers of Painting, Drawing, Printing, Ceramics and Three-Dimensions offer individual tuition in 'Open Studio' extra-curricular time.

All girls take full advantage of our location and make regular visits to engage with work displayed in London galleries. This interaction is crucial and allows girls to develop their knowledge of the world of Art beyond the classroom. We also undertake an international trip in the upper school; previous trips have been to New York and Barcelona.

Our department's commitment to teaching drawing, in its broadest sense, has resulted in excellent GCSE and A Level results for many years with many girls having gone on to pursue courses at leading Art Colleges and Universities. Girls have the opportunity to enter national and local art competitions. In recent years girls work has been selected and exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery.
