Old Girls' Association - 100 years on the Townsend Avenue site

The Old Girls' Association

There is a strong team of Old Girls who make up the Old Girls' Association (OGA). Year 13 pupils are welcomed to the OGA by the Chairperson and a letter is sent out with their leavers' package.

All Old Girls receive an annual OGA magazine which is produced by a dedicated team of members. We are always on the lookout for articles for the latest edition and for more help with the magazine, so do please get in touch if you feel this is something you would like to help with.

An elected Old Girl Committee meets regularly at the High School each term. Through this we are able to organise year group reunions, send invites to school events, search for support for careers fairs and mock interviews and keep you informed of developments at the High School.

Please do also let us know if you have changed address, career or have any news you wish to share.

OWLs

The Older and Wiser Ladies (OWLs) - a group of Old Girls over 55, have established a well-attended annual event held at the High School.

Reunions, Events and Revisiting the School

Old Girls' reunions are often set up informally during the year by a dedicated Old Girl herself. Old Girls who left 10 years, 20 years, 30 years etc ago are invited to reunite at the OGA AGM and other events and the school is happy to open up for a tour and trip down memory lane.

Campaign to Find Missing Old Girls - Please help us find them!

How good is your memory? Every year in the OGA magazine, we issue a list of missing OGA members who may have moved house or their address is unknown. We have trawled the SAHS archives and found a batch of Old Girls who used to be pupils at St Albans High School but with whom we have lost touch.

With the Centenary of the School on the Townsend Avenue site in 2008, and 120 years of our School in 2009, we would like to get in touch with as many former pupils as possible to mark these two great milestones. It would be fantastic if we could build up a picture of memories, people, photographs, and events which are lodged in the minds of current and former pupils.

If you are reading this as a missing Old Girl yourself, please send us your name and address so that we can send you details of forthcoming events, year group reunions, etc. ahead of the Centenary and renew your contact with the School. Please go to the Download Centre to complete the OGA Life registration form or, if you were a member of staff at SAHS, please complete the OGA Staff registration form. Alternatively, if you prefer not to renew contact, please let us know so we can remove your name from the missing list. If you know the whereabouts of anyone, feel free to use the downloadable letter which is signed by Jacqui Evans, an Old Girl (1981 to 1992) who works in the Marketing and Development Office at School and coordinates the OGA magazine and website.
